5 Things To Keep Your Kids Healthy During This Mess

We are all affected by the quarantine in different ways, but kids have a VERY different set of circumstances to deal with. 

Distance learning, no friends or family to play with, and a string of bad weather recently can really cause a moody child.

Here are 5 steps to try to help your child stay mentally healthy:

  1. Set a routine - Kids need structure.  When kids know what is supposed to happen, then it happens, it is easier for them to understand the situation.  It’s our job to create this structure.

  2. Exercise - It's a fact that exercise helps stress management, so try to get the kids moving everyday.

  3. Chores - Have the kids help(safely) with the cooking and cleaning.  This gives them a feeling of pride and ownership and a desire to participate further.

  4. Healthy diet - treats are ok, but nutritious food helps us in so many ways.

  5. Attitude - positivity and the “Yes, I can” attitude must be practiced every day.  There is so much doom and gloom in the media that kids need us to be SUPER positive.  They record mentally everything that goes on, including their own affirmations.  Either they will here, “Yes, I can!”, or “No, I can’t” decide.
