Belief or Attitude...or Both?
Posted: February 26, 2023
Having a "Yes I can" attitude is a must when trying to achieve goals, but belief goes beyond having a positive attitude.
Belief refers to the acceptance that something is true or real, often without requiring proof or evidence.
Beliefs can be held about a wide range of topics, and can be shaped by personal experiences, cultural upbringing, education, and other factors, especially by being exposed to a continually positive atmosphere.
While a "Yes I can" attitude is an important aspect of achieving success, it is ultimately rooted in one's underlying beliefs about their abilities and the world around them.
For example, if someone has a deeply ingrained belief that they are not capable of achieving success, no amount of positive attitude may be enough to overcome that belief.
On the other hand, when a child or athlete is exposed to a constant repetition of, "YES, I CAN!", their beliefs change. They quickly learn they can accomplish their goals and more!
Therefore, it's important to not only cultivate a positive attitude but also to examine and challenge any limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from achieving your goals.
At Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu, our athletes practice both...EVERY DAY!
