The Blue Stripe Challenge is an essential part of our training system at Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu Center. It is designed to keep students motivated, accountable, and engaged both in their martial arts journey and in their responsibilities at home. More than just a way to track progress, this challenge strengthens the connection between home and dojo, reinforcing valuable life skills like discipline, responsibility, and respect.
—How the Blue Stripe Challenge Works:
–Character Development: A core aspect of the challenge involves demonstrating respect, discipline, and perseverance—both in and out of the dojo.
–Parental Involvement: Parents play an active role in the challenge by choosing a specific task for their child to complete at home. The child must complete this task the first time they are asked, at least three days per week, in order to earn their blue stripe. This task can be anything from making their bed, completing homework without reminders, or helping with chores
—Reinforcing accountability beyond the dojo: Students must earn a minimum of five blue stripes within an eight-week cycle to be eligible for their next belt promotion.
